The Recks

**The Recks** are a spirited indie-rock outfit hailing from the Isle of Wight, UK, known for their surf-tinged riffs, sharp lyrics, and high-energy live shows. Formed around 2016, the band blends garage-rock grit with catchy, melodic hooks, drawing comparisons to acts like Parquet Courts or early Arctic Monkeys. Fronted by Jared Moses (vocals/guitar), the group includes Rory Cooke (guitar), Joe Edwards (bass), and Josh Rothera (drums). Their sound evolved from scrappy DIY beginnings to more polished, anthemic territory, as heard on their 2022 album *In the Garden*, which features tracks like the punchy “Porcupine” and the brooding “The Beast from the Sea.”

With a reputation for witty, observational storytelling (see “Train Wreck” or “Low Life”), The Recks have built a loyal following through relentless touring and festival slots. Recent releases like “Lovers In The Night” and the cheekily titled “The Milk’s Gone Bad” showcase their knack for pairing existential musings with danceable rhythms. Whether they’re channeling coastal melancholy or punk-fueled chaos, these Isle of Wight misfits keep their sound refreshingly unpretentious and irresistibly loud.
