Robin Nelson

Robin Nelson is a multifaceted British musician and composer, known for his significant contributions to choral and classical music. He served as Head of Music at Marlborough College and currently holds the position of Musical Director of the Swindon Choral Society. Beyond his musical career, he is also recognized as an ornithologist. Nelson has written extensively about his musical journey, sharing insights and experiences from his teaching and conducting career, particularly during his influential years at Marlborough College.

Born in 1943, Robin Nelson was educated at Calday Grange Grammar School and Cambridge University, where he studied music. Over a long career, he has been involved in composing and teaching, with some of his works including pieces for woodwind instruments such as flute and recorder. His discography and compositions reflect a dedication to classical and choral traditions, highlighted by recent releases like "Advent to Christmas," "The Complete New English Hymnal, Vol. 2," and "Lift Up Your Heads, O Ye Gates".
