Madball stands as a titan in the hardcore scene, synonymous with the gritty essence of New York City's underground. Formed in the late 1980s, originally as a side project of Agnostic Front, Madball came to life when Agnostic Front's vocalist, Roger Miret, allowed his half-brother and Madball's frontman, Freddy Cricien, to take the mic during live shows at the tender age of 12. With a lineup cementing in the early '90s, featuring bassist Hoya Roc, guitarist Matt Henderson, and drummer Will Shepler alongside Cricien, Madball embedded themselves in the hardcore ethos with releases such as "Set It Off" and "Demonstrating My Style", helping to forge and define the New York hardcore (NYHC) sound.
Through the years, Madball's discography has continued to capture the resilience and aggression of the streets, delivering unapologetically tough riffs and shout-along anthems that resonate with fans around the globe. Their ethos can be heard in albums like "Hold It Down" (2000), "Legacy" (2005), and "Infiltrate The System" (2007), all the way to their more recent work like "Hardcore Lives" (2014), "Empire" (2010), and "For the Cause" (2018). With the release of the "Rebellion" EP in 2012 and singles like "The Family Biz" and "You And Me", Madball has remained relevant and influential, continuing to tour and collaborate with newer generations of hardcore bands. Their sound is a call to unity within the scene—a visceral, pounding heart that keeps the blood of NYHC pumping through the veins of the global music community.
