João Costa Ferreira

João Costa Ferreira is a Portuguese pianist born in 1986. He began his piano studies at the age of eleven at the Music Conservatory of Leiria under Professor Luís Batalha. Ferreira holds the "Diplôme Supérieur d'Exécution" from the Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris, where he studied under Marian Rybicki and Guigla Katsarava. He is also a researcher with a Master's degree in Music and Musicology from Sorbonne University, currently pursuing a PhD focused on José Vianna da Motta's pianistic writing and interpretation.

Ferreira's repertoire spans from Baroque to contemporary music, with a specialization in the 19th and early 20th centuries. He has performed in numerous European concert halls, including venues in Portugal, France, Belgium, Spain, and the Netherlands. His work includes the rehabilitation and valorization of Portuguese musical heritage, particularly through the publication and recording of José Vianna da Motta's works. Recent releases include albums dedicated to Vianna da Motta's compositions, such as "Vianna da Motta | Poemas pianísticos" series. Ferreira has received several awards and distinctions for his contributions to music.
