Groot Omroepkoor

The **Groot Omroepkoor** (Netherlands Radio Choir) is one of Europe's largest professional choirs, established in 1945 in Hilversum as a merger of vocal ensembles connected to Dutch public broadcasting. From day one, the choir built a reputation for incredible versatility, moving seamlessly between Renaissance and Baroque works all the way through to contemporary compositions. They've become the go-to ensemble for performing major choral-symphonic repertoire in the Netherlands, collaborating regularly with prestigious orchestras like the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra and the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, and they've even been guests of the Berlin Philharmonic.

The choir's performance calendar is packed with broadcasting series including the NTR Saturday Matinee and the AVROTROS Friday Concert, where you'll hear them tackling everything from Romantic-era masterworks to cutting-edge contemporary pieces. They've premiered works by major composers like James MacMillan and have performed under legendary conductors including Bernard Haitink, Mariss Jansons, and Riccardo Chailly.
