Constellatia

Constellatia is a South African post-metal band formed in 2018 by Keenan Oakes and Gideon Lamprecht. The duo, hailing from Cape Town, combines elements of black metal with atmospheric and progressive influences, drawing inspiration from bands like Opeth, Mastodon, and Agalloch. Their music often explores themes of human existence, nature, and the cosmos, creating a somber yet cathartic sound. Constellatia's debut album, "The Language of Limbs," was released in 2019 and garnered significant attention, leading to a signing with Season of Mist. Their sophomore album, "Magisterial Romance," was released in 2022, further showcasing their evolving sound with tracks like "Paean Emerging" and "Adorn."

The band's live performances include additional members Lawrence Jaeger on drums and Adam Hill on guitar. Despite the challenges of the South African metal scene, Constellatia has made a name for themselves with their DIY approach and unique blend of heavy and atmospheric music. Their compositions are characterized by a balance of intense black metal passages and meditative soundscapes, often featuring guest vocalists to enhance their ethereal sound.
