Quasimoto

Quasimoto, also known by his alter ego Lord Quas, is the brainchild of the hip-hop producer and MC Madlib, from Oxnard, California. The character of Quasimoto emerged from Madlib's imagination during a series of experimental sessions in the late 1990s when he began pitching up his own voice to create a distinctive high-pitched tone. This transformation brought Quasimoto to life as a mischievous, cartoon-like figure whose helium-voiced persona quickly captured the attention of underground hip-hop enthusiasts. Quasimoto's narratives often flirt with the surreal and off-kilter, giving a hallucinatory quality to his storytelling.

Quasimoto's debut album, "The Unseen," released in 2000, is widely regarded as a unique masterpiece within the hip-hop genre, featuring Madlib's jazz-infused beats alongside the pitched-up, raspy rhymes of his alter-ego. The following albums, "The Further Adventures of Lord Quas" (2005) and "Yessir Whatever" (2013), continued in a similar vein, combining Madlib's eclectic production with Quasimoto's unconventional delivery. The instrumental versions of these records, such as "The Further Adventures Instrumentals," allow fans to fully appreciate the sheer musicianship in Madlib's production, sans the quirky voice of Quas. Despite being a fictional character, Quasimoto holds a special place in the hip-hop landscape, with fans often clamoring for more of his offbeat tales and collaborations, as showcased in tracks like "Hittin' Hooks."
