Amalie Dahl

Amalie Dahl is a Danish saxophone player, composer, and bandleader currently based in Oslo, Norway. With a background in jazz studies at NTNU in Trondheim, she has developed a unique voice that spans from subtle, nuanced improvisations to lively, outspoken expressions. She leads her own quintet, Amalie Dahl’s Dafnie, which has been praised for its energetic, expressive sound and inventive compositions blending free jazz with contemporary Scandinavian influences. Dahl is noted for her deep curiosity and use of unconventional techniques, creating rich sonic landscapes that engage both melodic clarity and experimental textures.

Her music often reflects a concern with societal issues, especially critiquing ultra-capitalism and power structures through dynamic and emotional performances. Amalie Dahl also plays in multiple other projects such as SUPERSPREDER, Dahl/Dalen/Søvik, and the Trondheim Jazz Orchestra.
