Kaizers Orchestra

Kaizers Orchestra is a Norwegian alternative rock band known for its distinctive sound, which blends rock with influences from Eastern European folk music and utilizes a wide array of unconventional instruments, including oil barrels, crowbars, and accordions. The band formed in 2000 in the city of Bryne, Rogaland, by vocalist Janove Ottesen and guitarist Geir Zahl, who both played previously in the band gnom. Their music is characterized by theatrical performances and complex narratives.

Kaizers Orchestra gained popularity in Norway with their debut album "Ompa til du dør" in 2001, winning awards and earning a cult following for their innovative style. Their discography includes a trilogy project titled "Violeta Violeta," which they released in three volumes between 2011 and 2012, offering a conceptual storyline across the albums. While the band announced their decision to take an indefinite break in 2013 following their farewell tour, their music continues to be celebrated, and they left an indelible mark on the Nordic music scene with their eclectic, high-energy performances and unique artistic vision. Their live album "En aften i Operaen (Live)" captures the essence of their dynamic live shows, showcasing their ability to engage with audiences and bring their stories to life on stage.
