Kaki King

Kaki King, born Katherine Elizabeth King, is an American guitarist and composer known for her intricate fingerstyle technique, diverse genres, and the use of multiple tunings. King's career started to rise following her 2003 debut album, "Everybody Loves You." Her talents have led her beyond solo work, engaging in collaborations with artists across different music realms and contributing to film scores, most notably for Sean Penn's "Into the Wild," for which she received a Golden Globe nomination for Best Original Score in collaboration with Eddie Vedder and Michael Brook.

Continuing to evolve as an artist, King has expanded her skills beyond traditional acoustic guitar work, incorporating multimedia elements into her performances as showcased in her groundbreaking 2015 multimedia show "The Neck Is a Bridge to the Body." This project, an album of the same name, treated the guitar not only as an instrument but as a visual projection screen, which marked a profound statement in her exploration of the guitar's storytelling capabilities. Among her other high-profile releases, "Glow" (2012) stands out as a testament to her prodigious talents, and her constant innovation was evident in her 2020 album "Modern Yesterdays." With a career characterized by an ever-evolving sound and an eagerness to push the boundaries of her instrument, Kaki King continues to be a significant figure and innovator in the world of modern guitar music.
