As a "70后" (born in the 1970s), he's been deeply involved in the local music scene for decades. 余永黎 is known for his work as a singer-songwriter, band leader, and music event organizer. He's the founder of the ONPH band, which remains active in live music performances. His musical journey has included organizing the Wuhan Rock Network, the Love and Peace Music Festival, and the Love and Peace Music Label.

余永黎's music often reflects his connection to Wuhan, with songs like "昙华林" (Tan Hua Lin) capturing the city's essence. He's also ventured into music translation, recently completing the Chinese version of Seymour Stein's autobiography "Siren Song: My Life in Music." 余永黎continues to be a prominent figure in Wuhan's music community, balancing his roles as a performer, organizer, and cultural ambassador.
