Coma Hole is a grungey, stoner metal duo based in Westerly, Rhode Island, featuring Eryka Fir on vocals, bass, guitar, and keys, and Steve Anderson on drums. The pair connected through a shared network of friends and finally started collaborating a few years ago after years of playing the idea of working together as a running joke. Eryka’s creative process normally starts with composing song skeletons on bass, which she then shares with Steve for drum contributions until they refine the songs together. They’ve cited Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, Hole, Danzig, Nirvana, and PJ Harvey as early influences, and their style is a compelling fusion of doom, stoner, and 80s/90s grunge elements.
Since their formation, Coma Hole has released a self-titled debut EP in 2022, featuring tracks like “The Familiar” and “Old Climb,” and a full-length album “Hand of Severance” in 2024, with songs such as “King Bee” and “Nevermind.” They’ve played notable festivals and continue to build their presence with raw, emotionally intense music that dives into darker aspects of life.
