Bill Wells

Bill Wells is a Scottish musician and composer best known for his genre-blurring work that brings together elements of jazz, pop, and experimental music. He’s widely recognized for his collaborative spirit, having worked with artists across a strikingly diverse musical spectrum, from Glasgow indie stalwarts like Aidan Moffat (of Arab Strap) to international talents such as Japanese musicians in his project with Maher Shalal Hash Baz. One of his most celebrated releases is Everything's Getting Older, a haunting and intimate collaboration with Moffat that won the inaugural Scottish Album of the Year Award in 2012.

Wells often works under ensemble banners like the Bill Wells Trio or the Bill Wells Octet, and he’s known for his ability to craft understated, emotionally resonant compositions that defy easy categorization. Whether he's exploring jazz piano improvisations, minimalist soundscapes, or melancholic pop arrangements, Wells always manages to infuse his music with warmth and nuance. His album Lemondale, recorded in Japan with a cast of Japanese musicians, is a perfect example of his globe-spanning creative curiosity.
