Randal Despommier

Randal Despommier is a Louisiana-born saxophonist known for his eclectic and versatile musical style, which spans adventurous post-bop, sacred choral music, and contemporary jazz. He grew up in the New Orleans suburb of Metairie, where he was exposed to a wide range of musical genres, including Mardi Gras rambles, funk, R&B, and jazz. Despommier holds a B.M. in jazz studies from Loyola University of New Orleans and a D.M.A. in music composition from the New England Conservatory. His musical career has taken him through various roles, including serving as a choir director and organist in Boston.

His album "A Midsummer Odyssey" explores the compositions of Swedish baritone saxophonist Lars Gullin, featuring a collaboration with guitarist Ben Monder.
