Straylight Run

Formed in Long Island, New York in 2003, Straylight Run emerged from the burgeoning emo scene of the early 2000s, bringing with them a more introspective and piano-driven twist to the genre. The band was initially a side project for John Nolan and Shaun Cooper, who were both original members of Taking Back Sunday, but sought a different musical direction. With the addition of Will Noon on drums and Michelle DaRosa as a vocalist and secondary guitarist, the group solidified their lineup and carved out their own niche. Straylight Run's self-titled debut album was released in 2004, and it resonated with fans for its emotional depth and lyrical sophistication, particularly on tracks like "Existentialism on Prom Night."

Over the years, Straylight Run continued to evolve musically, releasing a series of EPs and albums, including "Prepare To Be Wrong", "The Needles The Space", and "Un Mas Dos". Their sound expanded to incorporate a range of influences, from indie rock to Americana, showcasing the band's versatility and willingness to experiment. Despite experiencing lineup changes—most notably, Michelle DaRosa's departure in 2008 to pursue her own project, Destry—the band maintained its core ethos, focusing on heartfelt lyrics and intricate compositions. Their live performances, including those captured on "Live At The Patchogue Theatre", highlighted the band's dynamic range and ability to connect with audiences. Although Straylight Run announced an indefinite hiatus in 2010, their music continues to be celebrated for its emotional resonance and craftsmanship, leaving a lasting impact on the emo and indie rock scenes.
