Vaikom Vijayalakshmi

Vaikom Vijayalakshmi is a renowned Indian playback singer from Kerala, born on October 7, 1981, in Vaikom. She is also an expert in playing the rare musical instrument known as the Gayatri Veena. Despite being born blind, Vijayalakshmi has achieved significant success in her music career. She gained recognition for her work in the 2013 film *Celluloid*, earning a special jury mention for the song "Katte Katte." She has won several awards, including the Kerala State Film Award for Best Singer in 2013 for "Ottakku Padunna" from the film *Nadan*. Vijayalakshmi has performed in numerous shows across India and has sung for both Malayalam and Tamil films.

Vijayalakshmi's personal life has been marked by both challenges and achievements. She was initially engaged to a technician named Santhosh but called off the wedding due to his insensitive comments about her blindness. Later, she married N. Anoop, a mimicry artist, in 2018, but they divorced in 2021. In 2022, she was honored with the Kerala Sree Award, a prestigious civilian award from the Government of Kerala. Her determination and talent have made her a celebrated figure in Indian music.
