Victor Massé

Victor Massé was a 19th-century French composer, best known for his light and charming operas and operettas. Think bubbly melodies and delightful stories! While he didn't reach the heights of some of his contemporaries, his opera "Les noces de Jeannette" (Jeannette's Wedding) was a massive hit and remained a popular favorite for decades.

Massé studied at the Paris Conservatory, even winning the prestigious Prix de Rome. He later taught composition there, influencing a new generation of French musicians. Though he composed in various genres, his operatic works, with their accessible style and catchy tunes, are what cemented his place in music history.
