Belphegor

Belphegor is an Austrian extreme metal band known for their dark, aggressive sound that fuses elements of black metal and death metal. Formed in 1993, the band initially went by the name Betrayer before changing it to Belphegor, drawing inspiration from the demon of the same name. Over the years, the group has gained a reputation for their controversial and provocative themes, often focusing on satanism, occultism, and anti-religious sentiment, which is reflected in both their lyrics and their striking visual imagery.

Throughout their career, Belphegor has released a steady stream of incendiary albums, with some of their most recent work being "The Devils," "Virtus Asinaria - Prayer," and "Totentanz - Dance Macabre." Their music is characterized by a relentless intensity, innovative guitar work, and a blend of guttural and shrieking vocal styles. The band has also reinvigorated their earlier material with remastered versions, such as "Blutsabbath" and "The Last Supper," both from 2021. Belphegor continues to be a formidable force in the metal scene, unapologetically carrying the torch of their fiercely extreme musical ethos with each new release. Their unwavering commitment to their signature sound and thematic content has solidified their position as a mainstay in the global metal community.
