João Paulo Amaral

João Paulo Amaral is a Brazilian musician, arranger, and composer known for his innovative approach to the viola caipira, a traditional ten-string guitar. With over 20 years of experience performing in Brazil and internationally, Amaral has made significant contributions to Brazilian instrumental music. He's a graduate of the State University of Campinas (Unicamp) and completed the first master's degree in music focused on the viola caipira in Brazil, studying the work of Tião Carreiro. Amaral has released several acclaimed albums, including "Viola Brasileira" (2010) and "Cordal" (2014), and his most recent work "Aço da Terra" (2021) features collaborations with other notable Brazilian musicians.
