Island Mint is a Prague-based indie band known for their evolving sound, which has transitioned from a psychedelic, guitar-oriented style to a softer, more songwriterly approach. Formed around 2021, the band consists of Matyáš Adámek on vocals and guitar, Jakub Bolbol on guitar and backing vocals, Honza Podskalský on synthesizers and backing vocals, Ondra Lahoda on drums, and Tomáš Kovařík on bass. Their music is influenced by various genres, including the Australian neo-psych scene, 90s Britpop, and 60s sunshine pop. Notable releases include their debut album "Irreality," which marked a shift towards a more refined indie pop sound, and recent tracks like "Burnout" and "All Studium No Punctum."
The band's members bring diverse backgrounds to their music. Matyáš Adámek previously played in the indie band Humdrum Lighthouse, while Jakub Bolbol co-founded the Prague band Branko's Bridge. Honza Podskalský has experience playing in a brass orchestra and another indie band called Cold Meat Party. Island Mint continues to explore new sounds and perform at various festivals and showcases, aiming to grow their international audience.
