Tiento Nuovo

Tiento Nuovo is a Spanish baroque ensemble founded in 2016 by harpsichordist Ignacio Prego. After returning to Spain following twelve years abroad, Prego launched this ensemble which quickly gained recognition for its bright, deep, and lyrical interpretations of Baroque music. The group performs frequently across major Spanish concert halls and festivals, including the Festival Internacional de Arte Sacro in Madrid and the Ciclo La Europa de Murillo in Sevilla, as well as touring internationally in countries like Germany, Poland, and Switzerland. Their flexible lineup allows them to explore a wide repertoire, from well-known Baroque composers to lesser-known masters, and they have collaborated with notable soloists such as recorder player Maurice Steger and cellist Steven Isserlis.

Tiento Nuovo also embraces interdisciplinary projects, combining historical music with theatrical elements, like their highly praised program *La Conjuración de Venecia,* which blends Spanish and Venetian music with original texts, featuring actor Pedro Casablanc. Their recent recordings have won critical acclaim, including a Diapason d’Or for their rendition of Charles Avison's *Concerti Grossi*. Among their latest releases is *Napoli Inedita* (2025), conducted by Ignacio Prego and featuring vocalists Xavier Sabata and Alicia Amo, which revives forgotten Neapolitan operatic arias from the 18th century that had been archived for centuries.
