Rocco Filippini

Rocco Filippini is a highly respected Italian cellist known for his elegant playing and deep musicality. Born into a prominent musical family (his brothers are the violinist Uto Ughi and the violist Bruno Filippini), he's been a significant presence in the classical music world for decades. He's particularly celebrated for his interpretations of Bach's cello suites, which he has recorded multiple times, and for his work in chamber music. He's a founding member of the Trio di Trieste, a renowned chamber ensemble, and has collaborated with many other prominent musicians throughout his career.

Beyond his performing career, Filippini is a dedicated teacher and has influenced generations of cellists. He's held teaching positions at prestigious institutions like the Conservatorio di Milano and the Accademia Musicale Chigiana in Siena. He's also known for his commitment to contemporary music and has premiered works by several modern composers.
