Di Gojim is a Dutch klezmer and Balkan music ensemble formed in 1988 by Jaap Mulder and Tseard Nauta. The name "Di Gojim" is derived from the Yiddish term for "non-Jews," which fittingly reflects the group's composition of non-Jewish musicians who are passionate about klezmer music. The band has been known for blending traditional Yiddish klezmer with Eastern-European folk styles and gypsy music. Over the years, Di Gojim has had various lineup changes, with Tseard Nauta leaving the group in 2003 to pursue other musical endeavors and Jaap Mulder departing in 2021. Despite these changes, Di Gojim continues to perform and release music, including albums like "Rode Hert Sessies," "Moskou-Odessa," and "Yiddish Blues."
Di Gojim's music often features a vibrant mix of instruments, including clarinet, saxophone, trombone, and accordion, which contribute to their lively and energetic performances. By embracing Yiddish klezmer and Balkan music, Di Gojim has carved out a unique niche in the music scene, offering fans a dynamic and engaging musical experience. Their recent releases showcase their enduring passion for these genres, maintaining a strong connection to their roots while innovating and evolving their sound.
