Derek Trucks

Derek Trucks is a renowned American guitarist known for his soulful slide guitar playing and deep roots in blues, rock, and Southern music. He first rose to prominence as a guitar prodigy, joining The Allman Brothers Band at the age of 20 and eventually becoming a key member of the group until their retirement. Alongside his extensive work with the Allmans, Derek co-founded the Tedeschi Trucks Band with his wife, singer and guitarist Susan Tedeschi. The band has earned widespread acclaim for its powerful live performances and a sound that blends rock, soul, blues, and jazz influences.

Born in Jacksonville, Florida, Derek is the nephew of Allman Brothers drummer Butch Trucks, but he quickly carved out his own path with a distinct playing style heavily influenced by Duane Allman, Elmore James, and Indian classical music. Over the years, he’s collaborated with a wide array of artists across genres and has been recognized as one of the greatest guitarists of his generation. Whether performing searing solos or nuanced rhythm work, Derek Trucks continues to be a driving force in American roots music.
