Children Of Bodom

Children Of Bodom were a force to be reckoned with in the world of metal, forming a bridge between melodic death metal and power metal with their virtuosic blend of technically complex guitar work and memorable hook-laden choruses. Originating from Espoo, Finland, the band was formed in 1993 by the late guitar maestro and vocalist Alexi Laiho and drummer Jaska Raatikainen. Their name was inspired by the unsolved murders that occurred at Lake Bodom in 1960, adding an eerie mystique to their brand.

Over the years, Children Of Bodom developed a distinctive sound characterized by swift guitar riffs, atmospheric keyboard passages courtesy of Janne Wirman, and an aggressive rhythm section featuring Henkka Seppälä on bass and Raatikainen on drums. In 2003, guitarist Roope Latvala joined the band, contributing to their rich, layered sound before departing in 2015. The band's lyrical themes often revolved around personal struggles, macabre storytelling, and the occasional touch of dark humor. With a discography that includes critically acclaimed albums such as "Follow the Reaper" and "Hatebreeder," Children Of Bodom cemented their status as icons in the metal community. Despite their disbandment in 2019 following their final tour, the legacy of Children Of Bodom continues to influence countless metal acts around the globe.
