Messed Up is a Belarusian punk rock band from Grodno, formed in 2015. They are notable for being the first all-female punk band in Belarus and are often compared to the riot grrrl movement. Their music focuses on themes related to post-Soviet society, personal freedom, and social oppression. Due to Belarus's restrictive political environment, the band has faced challenges organizing concerts locally and has found more success performing abroad, particularly in Poland and Lithuania. The band's members are activists who oppose sexism, homophobia, racism, fascism, and ageism, and they identify as feminists. Their discography includes a demo titled *100% GRLZZZ PUNK ROCK* and an album titled *Everything You Believe In*.
Messed Up's journey has been marked by both creative milestones and political challenges. In 2020, some band members were imprisoned for participating in protests against the Belarusian government, leading many members to eventually leave the country and seek refuge in Poland. Despite these challenges, the band announced a return in 2022. Their music and activism reflect a strong commitment to social change and feminist ideals, resonating with audiences both locally and internationally.
