Gloria Ann Taylor

Gloria Ann Taylor was an American R&B and soul singer who first made a name for herself in the 1960s. Born in West Virginia in 1945, she moved to Toledo, Ohio with her family at age two. Taylor's biggest hit came in 1969 with "You Got to Pay the Price," which earned her a Grammy nomination for Best Female R&B Vocal Performance.

In the early 1970s, Taylor collaborated with her husband and producer Walter Whisenhunt on recordings that have since become highly sought-after by collectors. They released music on their own labels, including Selector Sound, which put out singles and the rare "Deep Inside You" 12-inch. Though her recording career was relatively brief, Taylor's unique blend of soul, funk, and proto-disco elements has earned her a cult following among music enthusiasts in recent years.
