Thomas Hoppe

Thomas Hoppe is widely recognized as one of the finest collaborative pianists of his generation. Born in 1971 in Germany, he studied under Lee Luvisi in the United States and later completed his education at the renowned Juilliard School in New York City, where he was a longtime studio pianist for legendary violin pedagogue Dorothy DeLay and the celebrated violinist Itzhak Perlman. His career features collaborations with many distinguished artists including Itzhak Perlman, Antje Weithaas, Tabea Zimmermann, Alban Gerhardt, and Jens-Peter Mainz, among others. As a member of the ATOS Trio, Hoppe performs internationally and has received numerous awards for his chamber music excellence. He also tours with the ensemble 4.1 Piano-Windtet and participates regularly as a piano partner at major international music competitions such as the Queen Elisabeth Competition in Brussels and the Joseph Joachim Violin Competition in Hannover.

Based in Berlin since 2003, Thomas Hoppe is also a respected educator, having taught masterclasses in accompaniment and chamber music across Europe, Australia, China, South America, and the United States. In 2018, he was appointed full professor of piano chamber music at the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen, Germany. His extensive experience as a performer and pedagogue makes him a highly sought-after figure in the classical music world. Hoppe’s artistry shines in both solo and collaborative settings, and he continues to contribute significantly to the music community worldwide.
