Garry Burnside is the youngest son of legendary Hill Country bluesman R.L. Burnside and carries on the rich legacy of Mississippi blues with a fresh, dynamic style. Growing up immersed in music, he started playing professionally as a teenager, notably as a bassist for neighboring blues legend Junior Kimbrough, appearing on all his Fat Possum recordings. After Kimbrough’s passing, Garry became a frontman and bandleader, blending blues, rock, funk, and soul into his guitar-driven sound.
His solo debut album *It’s My Time Now*, recorded with Grammy-winning producer Boo Mitchell, is a powerful tribute to his mentors and family roots while marking his emergence as a distinct voice in modern blues. Garry’s music showcases his deep respect for tradition alongside a fearless approach to innovation, making him a prominent figure in the Hill Country blues scene today.
