BRUUT!

BRUUT! is an Amsterdam-based instrumental quartet that has carved a unique niche within the music scene by blending jazz with elements from genres as diverse as surf, rock and dance music. Often described as 'superjazz', the band has a reputation for their energetic and unconventional approach to the jazz tradition, weaving together vibrant harmonies and rhythms that defy simple categorization. Comprised of saxophonist Maarten Hogenhuis, guitarist Folkert Oosterbeek, bassist Thomas Rolff, and drummer Felix Schlarmann, BRUUT! has been a part of the European jazz landscape since their establishment in the early 2010s.

Throughout their career, BRUUT!'s discography has demonstrated not just a prolific output, but also a band that refuses to stay static in their musical exploration. With albums such as "Zest" and its Deluxe version, BRUUT! has consistently pushed the boundaries of jazz, integrating playful and boisterous energy to their compositions, as showcased in tracks like "Krad" and "Diga." Their vivid storytelling ability without the use of words stands as a testament to their creativity, and their live performances, which include special sessions like the 2 Meter Sessions #1742, are acclaimed for their powerful stage presence and the visceral connection they forge with audiences. As they continue to build their impressive repertoire with tracks like "Tony," "Biby," "Billie," "Flint," and "Sjaco," BRUUT! remains at the forefront of modern jazz, blending tradition with an undoubtedly fresh sound.
