Julian Prégardien

Julian Prégardien is a distinguished German tenor recognized for his versatile vocal repertoire that extends from baroque to contemporary music. Born into a family deeply rooted in classical music, Julian pursued his passion through rigorous training at the Hochschule für Musik in Freiburg and later at the Aix-en-Provence Opera Academy. He is the son of the famous German tenor Christoph Prégardien, which has contributed to his profound musical heritage.

Prégardien's mastery shines through his performances of classical sacred music, particularly the works of J. S. Bach and Franz Schubert, as evidenced by his recent releases including Schubert’s "Mass No. 6 in E-Flat Major" and various arias from J. S. Bach’s "Matthäus-Passion, BWV 244." His keen interest and skill in the lieder genre are also evident in his rendering of "Schwanengesang" paired with Schubert's "String Quintet." Besides his recordings, Julian is an active concert performer and collaborator, often working with leading orchestras and ensembles under the baton of renowned conductors, which has solidified his reputation as one of the leading tenors of his generation. His artistic prowess is not just limited to the concert stage; he is equally at ease with operatic roles and has gained critical acclaim for his performances in opera houses across Europe. This dynamic combination of intimate lieder recitals, grand oratorios, and operatic roles showcases Julian Prégardien as a compelling and refined artist in the landscape of classical music.
