Tuxedo is the funky brainchild of two modern groove masters – Mayer Hawthorne (soul singer/producer Andrew Cohen) and Seattle-bred producer Jake One. Formed through a mutual love of disco-boogie and '80s R&B, their collaboration started with a MySpace-era beat swap that blossomed into a full-blown retro-funk revival project. Since dropping their self-titled debut in 2015, the duo's signature satin-smooth jams like "Do It" and "Number One" have become dancefloor staples, with 2017's "Tuxedo II" and later tracks like "Capital" doubling down on their addictive blend of slap bass, synth sparkle, and effortlessly cool vocals. Whether they're channeling Chic's guitar licks or Zapp's robotic vocoders, Tuxedo keeps the champagne-popping vibes flowing through every shimmy-inducing groove.
