PnB Rock, born Rakim Hasheem Allen on December 9, 1991, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, was an American rapper, singer, and songwriter known for his melodic fusion of rap and R&B. His stage name is a nod to Pastorius and Baynton streets in his hometown, where he was raised. PnB Rock's music career began to gain traction after the release of his breakout single, "Fleek," in 2015, and he reached further acclaim with his 2016 mixtape, "GTTM: Goin Thru the Motions." His sound was characterized by its smooth vocals and emotionally charged lyrics, which often explored themes of love, struggle, and success.
Throughout his career, PnB Rock collaborated with a range of artists, helping to cement his versatility and reach within the music industry. His second studio album, "TrapStar Turnt PopStar" (2019), showcased this diversity, featuring multiple popular artists and dividing the album into two sections to capture different aspects of his life and artistry. Singles like "Rose Gold" featuring King Von and "High" reflect PnB Rock's ability to collaborate and adapt to different rap styles while maintaining his unique sound. Unfortunately, PnB Rock's promising career was cut short when he tragically passed away on September 12, 2022, but his music continues to resonate with fans and influence the hip-hop and R&B genres.
