Tamaki Sawa

Tamaki Sawa was a super cool Japanese singer and actress who was huge in the 60s and 70s. Known for her smoky vocals and sophisticated style, she tackled everything from jazz standards (check out "わが恋はここに/沢たまきスタンダード・ジャズを歌う") to more pop-infused tunes like "ベッドで煙草を吸わないで" (Don't Smoke in Bed) and "夜のためいき" (Night Sighs). She wasn't just a recording artist either; Tamaki also lit up the stage and screen in numerous plays and films, making her a true multi-talented star.

Beyond her powerful voice and acting chops, Tamaki Sawa cultivated a distinct persona. She was known for her chic fashion sense and a kind of cool, independent vibe that really resonated with audiences. Sadly, she passed away in 2017, but her music and performances continue to be enjoyed and celebrated by fans in Japan and beyond.
