Sam Thousand

Sam Thousand, formerly known as Sam Trump, is a multi-talented multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter, producer, and composer with over 15 years of experience under his belt. He’s a standout figure in Chicago’s arts scene, recognized as both a performer and a curator, and is a 3Arts Award recipient. Since picking up the trumpet at age seven, Sam has performed all across North America and abroad, while also managing and booking shows at various venues to keep the city’s music scene vibrant.

He’s the co-founder of the Chicago-based arts organization ChiBrations, CEO of Superlative Muzak, Inc., and has collaborated with major partners like UChicago, DCASE, and NBCUniversal. Sam’s work extends into producing soundtracks for theater, dance, and film, with notable credits for works like FUNNY MARRIED STUFF, HIPLET: BECAUSE WE CAN, and the documentary UNAPOLOGETIC. His recent releases, including Ask Them, MAGICAL JOURNEY, and the live album Live at the Promontory, highlight his dynamic blend of soulful musicianship and engaging live performance.
