Nina & Mike were a popular German Schlager duo primarily active in the 1970s. The duo consisted of Michaela "Nina" Schähfer (born June 19, 1945, in Halle (Saale)) and Lothar "Mike" Schähfer (born January 14, 1944, in Mannheim). They met in 1963, married, and began their singing career as a duo in 1966, initially performing under names like Joe & Jenny and Michaela & Lothar before adopting the moniker Nina & Mike. They enjoyed significant success in the early 1970s with several hits, including "Fahrende Musikanten" and a German version of "Paloma Blanca," both of which reached the top ten in the German charts. Their music was produced by Jack White, and over their career, they released more than 10 albums and 60 singles, becoming well-loved figures in the Schlager and Volkmusik scenes. Nina passed away in 2005, and Mike in 2015, marking the end of their musical journey together but leaving behind a rich legacy of uplifting, melodic songs that captured the spirit of their era.
