Hasan Mutlucan

Hasan Mutlucan was a celebrated Turkish folk singer born in 1926 in İzmir, Turkey. He became widely known for his deep bass voice and his powerful interpretation of folk songs, especially those with themes of heroism and valor. Moving to Istanbul at the age of 13, Mutlucan first stepped on stage unexpectedly when an actor fell ill, which set him on a path into the performing arts. Although he trained at the Istanbul Municipality Conservatory and was even invited to perform in an opera, his passion remained firmly rooted in Turkish folk music. His performances on TRT radio during the 1970s brought him national recognition, and his voice became iconic, with one of his songs even played after the 1980 military coup in Turkey. Mutlucan was also involved in acting and composing, appearing in several films throughout his career. He passed away in 2011 in Istanbul but left behind a rich legacy of folk music that continues to resonate.

His discography includes notable releases such as "Güzel Ne Güzel Olmuşsun," "Köroğlu Cengi," "Cephe Türküleri," "Efe Turkuleri - Zeybekler," "Anadolu'dan Türküler," and "Kahramanlık Türküleri," all reflecting his dedication to heroic and traditional Turkish folk themes. His distinctive bass voice and heroic repertoire have made him a cherished figure in Turkish folk music history.
