Moraíto

Moraíto Chico, born Manuel Moreno Junquera in 1956 in Jerez de la Frontera, Spain, was an influential flamenco guitarist, renowned for his deep understanding and embodiment of the traditional Jerez flamenco style. Coming from a family with deep roots in the flamenco tradition—being the son of the guitarist 'El Morao' and the nephew of Manuel Morao—Moraíto carried the torch of his rich family heritage with distinction throughout his performance and teaching career.

Moraíto became one of the most sought-after accompanying guitarists for flamenco singers and dancers due to his profound rhythmic sense and his ability to both support and challenge the artists he worked with. His solo work, characterized by a distinctive touch and a remarkable sense of timing, added significantly to his reputation. Albums such as "Morao Morao" and "Morao y Oro" capture the essence of his artistry, showcasing his masterful interpretations of flamenco's complex rhythms and soulful melodies. Throughout his career, Moraíto provided an invaluable bridge between the flamenco of old and the modern interpretations that continue to evolve. His performances on "Flamenco Vivo" series like "Plazuela," "De Santiago a Triana," and "Carbon de Caña" stand testament to his incredible talent and enduring legacy in the world of flamenco. Sadly, the flamenco world mourned his passing in August 2011, but his music continues to inspire both aficionados and the next generation of flamenco artists.
