Virtuosi Brunensis

Virtuosi Brunensis is a chamber orchestra formed in 2007 from two prominent Czech orchestras: the Brno Janaček Theatre Orchestra and the Brno Philharmonic. The ensemble was created by violinist and conductor Karel Mitas, who was the concertmaster of the Janacek Opera Orchestra at the time. Virtuosi Brunensis has been involved in various musical projects, including recordings and live performances of classical works, particularly those by Rossini and other lesser-known composers. Their recent releases include live performances of Rossini's operas such as "Le Nozze di Teti e di Peleo," "Zelmira," and "Maometto II," showcasing their focus on classical and operatic repertoire.

The orchestra's performances often highlight the beauty of classical music, bringing lesser-known works to the forefront. Their collaboration with conductors like Fabrizio Maria Carminati has resulted in critically acclaimed recordings. Virtuosi Brunensis continues to contribute to the rich musical heritage of Brno, maintaining a strong presence in the classical music scene through their performances and recordings.
