Connan Mockasin

Connan Mockasin, born Connan Tant Hosford, is a New Zealand psychedelic pop musician known for his sonically adventurous and genre-defying music. Emerging in the late 2000s, Connan began his career under the name Connan & the Mockasins, but later embarked on a solo journey that saw him crafting a unique blend of lo-fi, funk, and jazz-infused pop with whimsical and surreal inclinations. His discography paints a portrait of an artist unafraid to explore the unfamiliar and the uncanny, shaping a distinctive voice within the contemporary music landscape.

After releasing "Forever Dolphin Love" in 2011, which garnered acclaim for its enchanting melodies and ethereal production, Connan solidified his status as an avant-garde figure with subsequent albums like "Caramel" (2013) and "Jassbusters" (2018). The former features the captivating track "I'm The Man, That Will Find You," exhibiting Mockasin's signature falsetto and sensuous arrangements. His sound has continued to evolve with more recent projects such as "Jassbusters Two" and the collaborative record "Myths 001," showcasing a relentless creativity and collaboration with other innovative artists. With each release, from the groovy "Charlotte's Thong" to the introspective "It's Just Wind," Connan Mockasin has proven himself a true maestro of the bizarre and the beautifully odd in the realm of indie music.
