Blood, Sweat & Tears

Blood, Sweat & Tears is an American jazz-rock band that pioneered a bold fusion of rock, jazz, and blues with a powerhouse horn section and virtuosic musicianship. Originally formed in 1967 in New York City by keyboardist and vocalist Al Kooper, the band gained widespread popularity after Canadian singer David Clayton-Thomas joined in 1968. Their self-titled second album, released in 1968, became a massive hit, featuring classics like “Spinning Wheel,” “You’ve Made Me So Very Happy,” and “And When I Die.”

The band became known for their dynamic live performances and their ability to blend complex jazz arrangements with mainstream rock appeal. Over the decades, Blood, Sweat & Tears went through numerous lineup changes, but they remained active with Clayton-Thomas returning for several stints. The group’s early work had a lasting influence on the horn rock genre, and they carved out a unique space in American music history with their genre-defying style.
