**Kury** is a Polish experimental rock and yass band formed in 1992 by Tymon Tymański, a key figure in Poland’s alternative music scene. Known for their evolving style, Kury started with post-rock influences inspired by artists like Frank Zappa and King Crimson and later incorporated more electronic elements. Their 1998 album *P.O.L.O.V.I.R.U.S.* is especially celebrated as a sharp, satirical take on Polish popular music and is considered one of the most important Polish albums of the 1990s. The band featured a rotating lineup of notable musicians, including clarinetist Jerzy Mazzoll and drummer Jacek Olter, and released several albums through the late 1990s and early 2000s before disbanding after a farewell tour in 2003.
Their music blends experimental rock with the unique yass genre—an avant-garde fusion of jazz, punk, and rock native to Poland. Kury’s sound is marked by a willingness to innovate and critique, which has earned them critical acclaim and a loyal following within the Polish underground scene. Tymon Tymański continued to influence Polish music after Kury, notably with his later band Tymon & The Transistors.
