Enrique García Asensio was a Spanish conductor known for his interpretations of Spanish music. He was born in Valencia, Spain, in 1936 and studied at the Valencia Conservatory. He made his conducting debut in 1957 and went on to lead many of the world's leading orchestras, including the London Symphony Orchestra, the New York Philharmonic, and the Berlin Philharmonic. He was also the music director of the Spanish National Orchestra and Chorus from 1984 to 1989. García Asensio died in Madrid, Spain, in 2021.
