Samuel Pompeo is a versatile Brazilian saxophonist, arranger, and composer hailing from Americana, São Paulo. He began saxophone studies in 1982 at the Municipal Music School and quickly expanded his skills to other woodwinds like flute, piccolo, and clarinet, studying with some of Brazil's most renowned musicians. Throughout his career, Samuel has collaborated with a wide range of notable Brazilian and international artists, including Gilberto Gil, Alice Cooper, Jon Anderson (Yes), Maria Rita, and Gal Costa, among others. He performs across various styles, notably jazz, choro, samba, and classical, leading his own Samuel Pompeo Quintet and participating in other ensembles in Brazil and Europe.
Besides performing, Samuel is deeply involved in music education and research. He holds a doctorate in music and teaches at the São Paulo Municipal Music School while also serving as a guest professor at Italy's "Fiato Al Brasile" festival. His albums, such as *Passos Largos* and *Dodecafonando*, celebrate Brazilian musical traditions with a jazz and classical fusion, showcasing his virtuosity and dedication to artistic growth. His sound is noted for brightness, clarity, and balance, influenced by high-quality equipment and extensive experience both on stage and in the classroom.
