Habib

Habib Wahid, known simply as Habib, is a celebrated Bangladeshi music composer and singer famous for blending traditional Bengali folk music with modern pop, techno, and electronic beats. Born in Dhaka in 1979 to Ferdous Wahid, a pioneering Bangladeshi pop singer, Habib grew up immersed in music and later honed his craft by studying music and audio engineering in London. While still a student, he created his breakthrough album *Krishno* (2003), which fused age-old folk tunes with contemporary electronica, introducing an innovative sound that quickly caught on both in Bangladesh and among the Bangladeshi diaspora in the UK. His work includes remixing classic folk songs by legendary composers like Hason Raja and Shah Abdul Karim with hip-hop, reggae, and rap influences, helping to modernize and popularize folk music for a new generation.

Habib has released numerous successful albums and singles, becoming one of Bangladesh’s leading figures in contemporary music. His unique style has earned him critical acclaim and awards, including the Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Music Director for the film *Projapoti* in 2011. Beyond his own productions, he has collaborated with other artists and producers, continually pushing the boundaries between tradition and modernity in Bangladeshi music.
