Lourena Nhate, full name Lourena Felecidade Nhate, is a celebrated Mozambican singer, dancer, and songwriter known for her captivating marrabenta music style. Born on August 26, 1987, in the Hulene district of Maputo, she discovered her passion for singing early on through church choir performances. Lourena gained national fame after finishing as the runner-up on the popular Mozambican reality show "Fama Show" at age 17, which opened doors for collaborations with prominent local artists like Oliver Style and Neyma. She released her debut album "Mbava Juiz" in 2006, which was well received locally and internationally. Some of her standout songs include “Awu Hembi,” which became a beloved anthem in Mozambique, and “Ni Famba na Wena,” which helped her reach audiences abroad with its video shot in China.
