Mari Mathias

Mari Mathias is a young Welsh folk/indie singer-songwriter known for bringing a fresh contemporary sound to both traditional folk songs and original material. Born and raised in West Wales, Mathias has developed her musical style through playing with various bands during her teenage years, gaining recognition in the Welsh music scene. She has shared stages with notable artists like Gruff Rhys and Meic Stevens and has performed at festivals such as Immersed and The Big Cwtch. Her music often incorporates storytelling and explores themes inspired by Celtic folklore and the landscapes of her homeland.

Mathias has released several notable works, including her debut album "Annwn," which delves into old Celtic tales, and the EP "Ysbryd y Tŷ," backed by JIGCAL Records. Her performances often blend traditional Welsh music with modern elements, creating a unique sound that resonates with audiences. Recently, she made her debut in India, performing at the Hornbill Festival in collaboration with Nagaland artist Seyievinuo Chuzho, showcasing her ability to fuse different cultural influences in her music.
