Old 97's

Old 97's are an American alternative country band that melds a vibrant mix of country twang, punk attitude, and rock 'n’ roll spirit. Formed in Dallas, Texas, in 1993, the quartet has become a staple of the alt-country scene, consistently revered for their energetic performances and clever songwriting. The band's lineup has remained steady with frontman Rhett Miller, bassist Murry Hammond, guitarist Ken Bethea, and drummer Philip Peeples. Over the years, Old 97's have cultivated a sound that's both familiar and progressive, embracing their roots while pushing into new territories.

Their discography reflects a band that is both prolific and dedicated to refining their craft. With "Twelfth," released in 2020, the Old 97’s have notched a dozen studio albums, showcasing their lasting appeal and the natural evolution of their sound. Albums such as "Most Messed Up" and "Graveyard Whistling" have further cemented their place as torchbearers of the genre, blending tales of heartbreak and revelry with tight musicianship that bridges the gap between rock ethos and country authenticity. Through their work, including collaborations like the EP with country legend Waylon Jennings and live recordings exemplified by "Alive & Wired," Old 97’s continue to deliver to their fans a brand of music that is uniquely their own, garnering critical acclaim and an ever-growing fan base along the way.
