Kiesgroup

Kiesgroup is a German pop band from Düsseldorf, founded in 1999 by Andreas van der Wingen and Maximilian Stamm, both formerly of the group Tainted Children. The band quickly made a name for themselves in the underground scene of Düsseldorf, leading to the release of their debut album “Dativ Boys” in 2003—an eclectic mix of punk and chanson with multilingual lyrics. Over the years, Kiesgroup’s sound evolved, especially after Stefan Jürke joined in 2007 and brought more electronic elements into their music, as heard in albums like “Das Leben Als Umweg Zwischen Nichts Und Nichts.” Their work has been recognized with awards such as the Kulturförderpreis der Landeshauptstadt Düsseldorf for music in 2005.

With songs and albums ranging from the quirky storytelling of “Gladbach Oder Hastings” to the atmospheric “Waldmorgen / Mutter,” Kiesgroup has maintained a reputation for blending humor, sharp lyrics, and genre-crossing compositions. The lineup has changed over time, with notable past members including Dirk Ferdinand (Tick Schneller) and Thilo Schölpen, and current stability featuring Andreas van der Wingen on vocals and Stefan Jürke handling samples and electronics. The band has remained a dynamic force in the German indie pop scene, known for energetic live shows and a creatively restless spirit.
