Yaba Angelosi, born Angelo Maku, is a South Sudanese American singer, songwriter, sound producer, film director, and entertainer. He is the founder of Assida Records and Assida Films, and his music blends traditional African sounds with modern Western dance music. Yaba Angelosi has gained popularity in Africa and among the South Sudanese diaspora in the United States, Canada, and Europe. He has performed internationally, including at The White House during celebrations for Sudan's Comprehensive Peace Agreement. His recent releases include "Hafla," "Compassion," "Something About You," "Jayreema," "Turn It Up," "Muhaba," "Wonderful Day," "Furoon," "I Can't Imagine," and "You & Me."
Yaba Angelosi's career highlights include supporting the independence referendum in South Sudan with his song "Time to Vote (Referendum)" and advocating against skin bleaching with "Black Is Beautiful."
